House of Design were appointed by Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole Council to produce a feasibility study, a Design Code and to undertake designs for a number of shop fronts along Boscombe High Street in Bournemouth.

The Design Code is to be used as local authority guidance for shop owners when changing their shopfronts and the feasibility study analyses the existing urban grain and identifies clusters of shop fronts that would benefit from replacement using a priority system.  The project completes in 2025 and so far we have undertaken design work to change 15 shop fronts, removing plate glass and aluminium and replacing with a more traditional and sympathetic timber design with stall risers, transoms and hand painted signage.
