The brief for this project was to reconfigure the rear of the Edwardian townhouse within the Hollygrove Conservation Area in Peckham. The existing extension is poorly configured and provides a small kitchen and limited additional living space.
The extension has a very contemporary aesthetic. A cream brick plinth supports oak cladding and sliding doors and the plinth folds out in the same material to create a bench seating area adjacent to the kitchen. A large format window behind the seating allows communication with the kitchen.
A large rooflight floods the new kitchen with natural light and large oak sliding doors give free access to the garden and allow the garden to become an extension of the room.
Planning permission was granted in mid 2020.
